Vietnam’s marine products for exports include: other marine fish (except tuna, accounting for 45.7% of Vietnam’s total export value of marine products); tuna (accounting for 28.2%); cephalopod (17%); crabs and other crustaceans (5.6%); mollusk shells (3.4%) and the rest are other mollusks (except cephalopod and bivalve mollusk).
In the first 3 months of 2022, the export value of captured marine products increased, except for other mollusks exports. Tuna exports recorded the strongest growth rate of 72%, reaching over 259 million USD.
Exports of crabs, other crustaceans and cephalopod increased by 62% and 35% respectively. Exports of mollusk shells increased by 29%, exports of other marine fish increased slightly by 5%. In contrast, exports of other mollusk fell 58% but this product only accounted for a small proportion.

In the next quarter, Vietnam’s exports of marine products are expected to maintain positive double-digit growth. However, the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, IUU yellow card, increasing transportation costs, gas prices, input costs,… are still the challenges that businesses have to face.
